It really depends on what you want to do. You can do some cool intricate work with just thread and seed beads, or you can mix in more expensive shaped glass ones, metal findings, wire, etc etc. I think you can bead on a budget if you want to.
I do beading. Check out firemountaingems.com a great company to deal with. Depends on the month ,but I'd guess about $ 30.00 ;)))
I suggest beading with hemp knots. It is fun, not as costly as using wire, goes fast, makes great gifts and they sell! You can use just about any beads or make your own out of polly clay. I spend about $10.00 when I buy supplies and sell my necklaces for $15. to $35. I almost sell out at every craft fair I've done! Here is a link that may be helpful. Have fun!

I do.I love it.I dont buy beads,i make them out of random things from seeds to chess peices!
my daughter has just gotten into beading. We are getting her quite a bit for christmas. It all depends on how much you do of it and how often you do it and what brand you use, etc.,.
I do scrap booking and I can spend quite a bit of money on it. From the papers I use to the cartridges I buy for my Cricut, to the embellishments that I put on my pages, etc., all depends on what you do and what you want to do.
For the first start you might need some money to spend on string and clip s beads etc, but after you did a few you might earn some money and use it for buy more beads, more expensive one, I am quite lucky because I went to Bangkok and I found a shop that sell all what I need for my beading in Sunday market (Chatuchak Market) so cheap that I bought a lot, and I earned much more than I imagine. Good luck to you.
Well there a very few places to buy seed beads and they average from 4 to 7 dollars. You have to buy special thread which is around 7 dollars too. Then you have to buy the loom or make one. Which usually cost about 7 to 15 dollars. Then you have to buy clamps and little things which add up to around 10 dollars.
Just stock up and start beading! It is really fun and passes the time :-)
Well my friends nasty girlfriend does it, and if she can afford it, anyone can. He is 21 and she is 26. She is been married twice and has two kids by two different men. She is a straight up skank, and I know she do not make much money and she is all the time doing beading, so I am sure you would be able to afford it. I would not imagine it being more than 40-50 bucks a month though.
Not a huge amount at first, because you will be working with the more common beads as you learn your craft. But you will want to invest in a good magnifying glass on a stand, so you can see what you're doing when you get into the finer stuff and the more complicated patterns. There are usually classes for beginners at craft stores - if there is a Michaels or something of that sort near you, check it out.
